Information Systems Officer

About the role

The Information Systems Officer will ensure continuous operation of critical computer systems for ECLAC, overseeing the central ICT infrastructure and supporting both on‑premises and cloud services. Reporting to the Chief of the ICT Section, the role combines operational management, technical design and user support within a United Nations regional commission.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain continuous operation of ECLAC’s critical computer systems and supervise the central infrastructure area.
• Support installation, configuration and lifecycle management of on‑premises and cloud‑hosted systems.
• Plan capacity and availability of ICT infrastructure services and establish performance KPIs.
• Lead feasibility studies, system analysis, design and implementation of moderately complex infrastructure projects.
• Provide specialized advice to users, translate requirements into technology solutions and manage system integrations.
• Develop, test and maintain disaster recovery plans, backup strategies and security controls.
• Prepare technical documentation, system architectures and operational procedures.
• Manage contracts, SLAs and procurement activities with ICT suppliers.

Required profile

• First‑level university degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related field.
• Minimum five years of progressive experience in planning, designing, implementing and maintaining ICT infrastructure.
• Professional certifications such as ITIL®, VMware VCP, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Azure Administrator, AWS Solutions Architect or equivalent are desirable.
• Fluency in English (required); Spanish is desirable.
