Intern - Communication Specialist

About the role

The International Trade and Integration Division of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) is looking for a motivated Communication Intern to support its outreach activities. Working under the supervision of Economic Affairs Officer Javier Pérez Ibáñez, you will help increase the visibility of the Division’s projects, publications, and events.

Key responsibilities

• Research, compile and organize information on projects, publications, technical cooperation activities and events.
• Draft and edit website articles, news items, social media posts, event announcements, invitations and short institutional summaries.
• Adapt technical and research‑based content into concise, accessible messages for non‑specialist audiences.
• Assist in preparing communication plans for publications, conferences, seminars and workshops.
• Create visual communication materials such as presentations, infographics, charts, banners and digital products.
• Update the Division’s website, social media channels and other digital platforms in coordination with ECLAC units.
• Support dissemination of reports, policy briefs and statistical products.
• Help organise and provide communication coverage for conferences, seminars, workshops and meetings.
• Maintain mailing lists, contact databases, activity calendars and digital archives.
• Compile basic website, newsletter and social media statistics and prepare performance summaries.

Required profile

• Strong research and information‑management abilities.
• Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
• Ability to translate technical material into clear, non‑technical language.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Interest in international trade, regional integration and public‑policy communication.
