International Lawyer – Panamanian Legal Specialist

About the role

We are a growing international firm looking for a Panamanian lawyer to join our Panama entity, Local Traders S.A. The successful candidate will provide expert legal support on cross‑border cooperation, administrative and constitutional matters, tax compliance, and regulatory/AML‑CFT issues.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, file and track Mutual Legal Assistance (MLAT) requests and letters rogatory with Panamanian authorities.
• Coordinate with international law‑enforcement agencies while protecting corporate rights under Panamanian law.
• File formal complaints with the Defensoría del Pueblo and Procuraduría de la Administración against government delays.
• Draft and litigate Recursos de Amparo before the Supreme Court.
• Advise on Panamanian tax law, double‑taxation treaties, residency certificates and DGI filings.
• Guide fintech and corporate clients on AML/CFT frameworks, KYC policies and data‑protection compliance.
• Liaise with the Superintendencia de Bancos and other regulators to resolve administrative bottlenecks.
• Review legal requests from law‑enforcement, assess validity and advise on appropriate responses.
• Draft, review and maintain Terms of Service, policies and internal legal documentation.

Required profile

• Licensed Panamanian attorney in good standing.
• Proven experience in international legal cooperation, administrative and constitutional litigation.
• Strong background in Panamanian tax law and regulatory compliance.
• Experience advising fintech or corporate clients on AML/CFT and data‑privacy matters.
• Excellent analytical and drafting skills in both Spanish and English.

Required skills

• Knowledge of MLAT procedures and letters rogatory.
• Familiarity with Panamanian administrative and constitutional law.
• Understanding of Panamanian tax legislation and double‑tax treaties.
• Expertise in AML/CFT regulations, KYC processes and data‑protection standards.
