Legal consultant for national Escazú Agreement roadmap

About the role

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the Secretariat of the Escazú Agreement are seeking a legal consultant to provide substantive legal, technical, and strategic support for the development of a national implementation roadmap for the Escazú Agreement in a selected State Party.

Key responsibilities

• Provide substantive and technical support for the implementation of the seven‑step methodology to develop the national roadmap.
• Assist in the preparation, coordination, and facilitation of at least one national workshop, consultation, or multi‑stakeholder dialogue supporting the roadmap development.
• Support the finalisation, publication, and dissemination of the national roadmap, including coordination of related documentation and stakeholder engagement processes.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in legal analysis and policy development related to environmental agreements.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multi‑stakeholder groups and government entities.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
