Mechanical Engineer – Mining & Metals Projects

About the role

Bechtel is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support mining and metals projects in Santiago. The role involves designing, developing, and evaluating mechanical components and systems that enable the extraction and processing of critical minerals for clean‑energy technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate mechanical packages, managing documentation and schedule activities.
• Design equipment and mechanical systems such as pumps, HVAC, material‑handling, and grinding circuits for mining plants.
• Perform calculations and analyses to generate technical design recommendations.
• Prepare material requests, specifications, data sheets, and other procurement documents.
• Evaluate suppliers and lead technical tender assessments for mechanical equipment.
• Collaborate with mechanical designers to produce drawings that meet project standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience with mechanical equipment in mining process plants.
• Knowledge of material‑handling equipment is a plus.
• Strong ability to work across engineering disciplines and support project teams.
