Population Analyst Internship

About the role

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) is offering a four‑month internship in its CELADE Population Division, based in Santiago, Chile. Working under the guidance of a Population Affairs Officer, the intern will support research and analysis on demographic trends across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Search, collect, and organize information and reference materials on population issues from various sources.
• Review and prepare detailed summaries of population and demographic studies.
• Generate and analyse demographic and population‑and‑development indicators.
• Process census and survey microdata to produce sociodemographic indicators and preliminary analyses, using Redatam and R software.
• Support the organization and servicing of meetings, workshops, and inter‑governmental conferences related to the Division’s projects.
• Perform other tasks as required by the Division.

Required profile

• High‑school diploma (minimum) and currently enrolled in or having completed the final year of a bachelor’s degree, master’s, or Ph.D. programme.
• Field of study closely related to population, demography, economics, statistics, or a similar discipline.
• No prior professional experience required.
