Regional Freight Operations Manager – South America

About the role

Sandvik Mining is seeking a Regional Freight Operations Manager for South America (SAM) to lead and continuously improve freight operations across the region. The role focuses on delivering efficient, cost‑effective, high‑quality, and sustainable transportation solutions while ensuring compliance with trade regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the regional Freight Operations team and keep them updated on regulations and best practices.
• Design and implement regional and local freight strategies and transportation solutions.
• Manage inbound and outbound freight operations, including relationships with logistics service providers, carriers, and customs brokers.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of customs and trade‑compliance documentation.
• Oversee the Freight Control Tower, monitor cost, quality, and delivery performance, and drive corrective actions.
• Validate and control freight invoices, driving cost‑effectiveness and profitability.
• Maintain governance, administration, and documentation of transportation contracts and agreements.
• Participate in global Supply Chain and Logistics projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, International Trade or related field.
• Based in Chile, Peru or Brazil.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in freight transportation or logistics operations.
• At least 4 years of experience leading regional teams.
• Advanced English proficiency (mandatory) and intermediate Portuguese (desirable).
• Valid Class B driver’s license or local equivalent.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally and work across different schedules/time zones.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of Supply Chain Management.
• Advanced knowledge of Performance Management.
• Experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS) – desirable.
• Strong understanding of international trade, freight insurance processes, and customs compliance.
• Proficiency in operational freight processes, including booking and invoice validation.
