Senior Back Office Architect

About the role

Xe is rebuilding the platform layer behind cross‑border payments for corporate and consumer clients. We are looking for a Senior Architect who will own end‑to‑end architectural problems for our back‑office money‑movement core and shape how the engineering organization builds, from system design to implementation and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Own the architecture for the ledger, balances, settlement, reconciliation and treasury operations.
• Stay hands‑on by prototyping patterns, writing code for the hardest parts, and leading architecture reviews across squads.
• Set architecture standards for API design, observability, security and integration patterns.
• Lead cross‑cutting decisions, mentor mid‑level architects and grow the architecture practice.
• Drive adoption of AI‑assisted coding tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, etc.) across the SDLC.

Required profile

• 7‑10+ years building production software systems, with at least 3 years in architecture‑focused roles.
• Proven track record designing system architecture across multiple teams and leading architecture reviews.
• Strong backend proficiency in C#/.NET and experience with other modern languages such as Java, Kotlin or Go.
• Solid CS fundamentals: object‑oriented design, domain‑driven design, data structures and pragmatic system design.
• Deep understanding of microservices, REST APIs and event‑driven patterns.
• Strong SQL and relational database knowledge, with familiarity with NoSQL where appropriate.
• Production experience on AWS, including CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions).
• Experience in payments, FX or other regulated industries.
• Daily use of agentic coding tools and a clear view on AI in architecture work.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
