Senior Design Engineer

About the role

Fluor is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead complex engineering assignments for government‑focused projects. The role involves delivering high‑value technical solutions, guiding project teams, and ensuring Fluor remains competitive in the global marketplace.

Key responsibilities

• Lead or act as Area Lead on assigned projects, handling complex engineering tasks.
• Develop and review cost estimates, schedules, progress reports and workforce forecasts.
• Establish, track and monitor material quantities, providing analysis and forecasts.
• Prepare and review specifications, design criteria and procurement documentation.
• Perform and verify engineering calculations, specify equipment, and resolve technical problems.
• Mentor junior staff, develop training material and conduct seminars.
• Provide independent recommendations on solutions in line with project objectives.

Required profile

• Accredited four‑year engineering degree (or global equivalent) with at least ten years of relevant experience.
• Professional engineering registration or certification preferred.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with management, clients, vendors and contractors.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under time constraints.
• Knowledge of local, state/provincial and federal regulations applicable to engineering projects.
