Senior Project Engineer – Advanced Process Control

About the role

ABB is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead Advanced Process Control (APC) projects within its Automation business area in Chile. You will act as the design authority, delivering cost‑effective solutions from analysis through commissioning while ensuring compliance with quality, safety and cybersecurity standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical strategy for APC and control‑optimization projects, from process analysis to commissioning.
• Develop, configure, test, and integrate advanced control strategies with DCS, PLC, OPC, historians and other systems.
• Support installation, commissioning and performance validation of APC solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to standardisation and knowledge development.

Required profile

• Engineering background in Automation & Control, Electrical, Mechanical, Metallurgic or Mining.
• 7+ years experience in APC, process optimisation or advanced control, preferably in mining, pulp & paper or cement.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of control strategies such as Fuzzy Logic, Model Predictive Control, Smith Predictor, Rule‑Based.
• Expertise with DCS, PLC, OPC, historians and related control systems.
• Experience with relational databases and SQL.
• Programming skills: Python, C#, VBA, JavaScript.
