Software Engineer – Data Acquisition (Santiago)

About the role

Checkr is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Data Acquisition team in Santiago. You will help design, build, and operate the platforms that collect and process background‑check data from government and third‑party sources, directly supporting Checkr’s core product.

Key responsibilities

• Develop end‑to‑end data platform features, from architecture and design through implementation, testing, and production monitoring.
• Build new data acquisition services in Python (or Go) with a focus on reliability, scalability, and observability.
• Participate in architecture decisions, write design documents, and influence technical direction.
• Enhance platform visibility using structured logging, metrics, and alerting with Datadog and OpenTelemetry.
• Collaborate with engineers in Chile and the United States using async‑first planning and execution.

Required profile

• Advanced English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• 4+ years of software engineering experience with a strong backend focus.
• Experience building or maintaining distributed systems, APIs, or data pipelines.
• Willingness to work in a hybrid format at the Santiago office (3 days on‑site, 2 days remote).

Required skills

• Strong Python skills (or Go).
• Containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes/EKS.
• Cloud platform experience, preferably AWS.
• Monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog and OpenTelemetry.
• Familiarity with NoSQL data stores like MongoDB.
