Dosimetrist (Hybrid)

About the role

The University of Rochester seeks a skilled Dosimetrist to translate radiation prescriptions into precise, safe treatment plans for cancer patients. Working closely with medical physicists and radiation oncologists, you will help design and optimize plans and support therapists during treatment delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Design treatment plans using computer or manual calculations to achieve optimal beam geometry while sparing critical structures.
• Identify and contour normal and dose‑limiting structures on CT, MRI, and PET datasets.
• Perform image registration across multiple imaging modalities.
• Collaborate with radiation oncologists and physicists to refine plans and verify dose calculations.
• Document calculations, verify mathematical accuracy, and maintain patient records.
• Assist with simulations, tumor localization, and the fabrication of compensation filters, custom shields, bolus, electron cutouts, and other beam‑modifying devices.
• Produce molds, casts, and immobilization devices as needed.
• Import patient images and localization markers, generate reference images, DRRs, CBCTs, and support IGRT workflows.

Required profile

• Proficiency in treatment planning and dose calculation methods.
• Strong knowledge of CT, MRI, and PET imaging and image registration techniques.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and therapists.
• Attention to detail in documentation and verification processes.

What we offer
