Senior Charge Nurse

About the role

The Senior Charge Nurse will join the established Critical Care team at Victoria Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit. This senior clinical leader will help drive day‑to‑day operations, support staff, and champion service improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily running of the ICU, ensuring safe nurse staffing and high‑quality patient care.
• Lead service improvement projects to raise quality and safety standards.
• Provide clinical leadership, mentorship, and expert advice to nursing staff.
• Coordinate out‑of‑hours rotational cover for the Directorate, handling clinical and immediate management issues.
• Assess patient care needs, develop and evaluate care programmes across the hospital.

Required profile

• Extensive clinical and leadership experience in Critical Care.
• Enthusiasm for implementing change and generating ideas.
• Ability to motivate and lead a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
