Assistant Support Services Manager

About the role

The Assistant Support Services Manager will join the Support Services team at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, helping to lead the delivery of domestic services in line with the National Cleaning Services Specification. Working closely with the Support Services Manager and other senior staff, you will ensure safe, effective and patient‑centred environments across the hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Support the operational management of domestic services, including cleaning, infection control and health‑and‑safety compliance.
• Assist in managing staffing resources, attendance and performance for a large team.
• Investigate incidents, compile written reports and manage competing priorities.
• Ensure adherence to NHS Fife policies, Once for Scotland standards and relevant legislation.
• Provide leadership that promotes a positive, person‑centred approach and fosters collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing large staff groups within a healthcare or similar environment.
• Strong organisational and prioritisation abilities in a fast‑paced setting.
• Excellent written communication skills and experience implementing electronic systems.
• Understanding of cleaning practices and familiarity with mechanical cleaning equipment is desirable.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including days, back‑shifts, nights and weekends as needed.
