Band 6 Charge Nurse – Surgical Ward

About the role

The Band 6 Charge Nurse will join Ward 52 at Victoria Hospital, a busy 24‑bed surgical ward delivering high‑dependency step‑down care. This role offers a fast‑paced environment to develop advanced clinical and leadership skills within acute surgical nursing.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Senior Charge Nurse in day‑to‑day clinical and operational management of the ward.
• Lead staff development initiatives and mentor junior nurses.
• Maintain high standards of clinical governance and contribute to quality‑improvement projects.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, person‑centred patient care.
• Adapt working patterns to meet Directorate service demands.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with a strong interest in surgical nursing.
• Demonstrated experience in acute surgical settings and ongoing CPD.
• Commitment to NHS Fife values: care, compassion, dignity, respect, openness, honesty, responsibility, quality, and teamwork.
• Effective leadership, communication, and team‑motivation skills.
