Charge Nurse – Acute Stroke Unit

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced registered nurse to join our Stroke team on Ward 42, a 24‑bed acute and early rehabilitation stroke unit. The role involves delivering patient‑centred care throughout the patient’s journey, from admission to early rehabilitation, and supporting the multi‑disciplinary team in maintaining the highest standards of stroke care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 24/7 specialised stroke care to patients on the acute stroke unit.
• Lead and support the delivery of safe, effective, person‑centred care.
• Collaborate closely with the multi‑disciplinary team to drive local and national stroke care standards.
• Manage ward operations, including staffing and patient flow, across a 36‑hour week that includes weekends and out‑of‑hours work.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with experience in acute stroke or early rehabilitation settings.
• Commitment to delivering high‑quality, evidence‑based care.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and out‑of‑hours.
• Eligibility to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and legal right to work in the United Kingdom.
