Clerical Officer – Surgical Directorate (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

The Surgical Directorate requires a Clerical Officer to deliver high‑quality administrative support to medical and nursing teams on the ward. This fixed‑term position (12 months) ensures smooth patient flow and accurate documentation within a busy NHS environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive administrative service to medical and nursing staff, supporting efficient patient care.
• Ensure case notes are available at admission, coordinating with other hospitals as needed.
• Handle telephone and face‑to‑face enquiries from staff, patients, relatives and carers, prioritising queries effectively.
• Arrange review appointments and organise patient transport to facilitate the patient journey.

Required profile

• Good basic education.
• Basic understanding of office procedures.
• Good organisational and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets).
