Community Addictions Nurse

About the role

The NHS Scotland is seeking a qualified Community Addictions Nurse to join the Argyll and Bute Addiction Team based in Cowal. Working within an integrated health and social care setting, you will provide specialist mental health nursing care to individuals with substance‑use disorders.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients with drug and alcohol dependencies.
• Develop, implement and evaluate personalised recovery plans.
• Manage a dedicated caseload and coordinate care with local GP practices for opioid replacement therapy.
• Collaborate with the wider multidisciplinary team, including health, social care and community partners.
• Deliver safe, effective interventions and monitor client progress.

Required profile

• Registered mental health nurse with significant post‑registration experience.
• Demonstrated experience in drug and alcohol services.
• Strong commitment to partnership working and multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Required skills

• Clinical assessment and care planning for addiction patients.
• Knowledge of opioid replacement therapy protocols.
• Ability to work within integrated health and social care teams.
