Healthcare Support Worker – Orthopaedic Trauma Ward

About the role

The Healthcare Support Worker AA will join Ward 33, a 23‑bed orthopaedic trauma unit delivering fast‑paced, person‑centred care. You will work alongside a motivated multidisciplinary team to support patients ranging from frail elderly individuals to younger orthopaedic cases.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality bedside care on a rotational shift pattern covering day and night duties.
• Assist with patient admissions from the Emergency Department and orthopaedic day‑case arrivals.
• Support discharge planning and maintain patient flow on a busy acute ward.
• Collaborate with medical staff, therapists, and support services to ensure safe and effective care.
• Participate in training opportunities to develop extended clinical skills.

Required profile

• Motivated, reliable and able to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
• Strong communication skills to facilitate admissions and discharge processes.
• Willingness to complete SVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) with employer support.
• Interest in delivering person‑centred care for a diverse patient group.
