Nurse Practitioner / Staff Nurse – Pre‑assessment Suite (Fixed‑term)

About the role

An exciting opportunity exists for a Nurse Practitioner or Staff Nurse to join the Pre‑assessment Suite at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy. Working closely with the Senior Charge Nurse, you will help prepare patients for elective surgery by delivering high‑quality, autonomous clinical care.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive medical assessments and physical examinations of patients awaiting elective surgery.
• Manage ongoing medical needs and optimise patients’ health pre‑operatively.
• Collaborate with Consultant Anaesthetists, Surgeons and multidisciplinary teams to plan admissions and discharge.
• Support the Senior Charge Nurse in delivering an efficient pre‑assessment service.
• Develop and expand the role to meet evolving patient and service requirements.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with experience in surgical or orthopaedic settings (Band 5) or qualified Nurse Practitioner (Band 6).
• Completion of Advanced Clinical Examination and Non‑Medical Prescribing course for Nurse Practitioner applicants.
• Strong communication, organisational abilities and capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to continuous professional development.
