Pharmacy Technician – Annex 21 Programme

About the role

The Pharmacy Technician will support the delivery of high‑quality pharmaceutical services across NHS Lanarkshire hospitals. Working on a rotational basis, you will follow Standard Operating Procedures under the guidance of senior staff while completing the Annex 21 training programme.

Key responsibilities

• Dispense in‑patient, out‑patient, controlled‑drug, clinical‑trial and clozapine prescriptions in line with SOPs.
• Perform final accuracy checks on dose‑banded aseptic products supplied by external manufacturers.
• Conduct final accuracy checks on prescriptions and medication indents prepared by colleagues.
• Retrieve, reconcile and record patient medication information.
• Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain GPC registration and professional development.

Required profile

• Diploma or SQA National Certificate in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent) enabling registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
• Registered Pharmacy Technician with the GPC.
• Commitment to revalidation and maintaining a personal development portfolio.

Required skills

• Dispensing of prescriptions, including controlled substances.
• Final accuracy checking of medication products and prescriptions.
• Medication reconciliation and record‑keeping.
