Principal Value Chain Procurement Lead

About the role

The Principal Value Chain Procurement role at BHP Chile is responsible for aligning the company’s production technology procurement with market conditions, managing strategic supplier relationships and overseeing high‑value contracts. Based in Santiago, the role supports the delivery of innovative, value‑driven sourcing strategies that secure supply continuity and optimise total cost of ownership.

Key responsibilities

• Develop multi‑year category strategies using market intelligence, technology trends and business needs.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to translate objectives into procurement requirements.
• Design sourcing plans that balance productivity, commercial value and risk, and ensure contract coverage.
• Lead high‑value strategic sourcing projects, providing commercial coaching to stakeholders.
• Conduct supplier negotiations, market engagement, and recommend contract awards.
• Prepare and socialize contracts for internal endorsement and approval.
• Capture productivity improvements and contribute to performance scorecards.
• Identify key suppliers, define performance measures and manage supplier performance against contracts.
• Create a continuous‑improvement pipeline, managing opportunities from ideation to benefit realisation.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in the mining or oil and gas sectors (preferred).
• Significant experience leading end‑to‑end Source‑to‑Contract processes across multiple categories.
• Proven ability to develop and execute strategic sourcing plans and manage complex contracts.
• Strong stakeholder management and commercial negotiation skills.
