Registered Nurse - Mental Health

About the role

The NHS Lanarkshire team is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide high‑quality care for patients with mental health disorders, substance misuse, learning disabilities and co‑morbidities. Working under the supervision of senior nursing staff, you will apply the nursing process framework to deliver person‑centred assessment and care planning.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care using the Framework of the Nursing Process for a range of mental health conditions.
• Appraise and clinically supervise nursing students and healthcare support workers.
• Act as Named Nurse (for nurses with ≥2 years post‑registration experience), coordinating a small team of junior staff.
• Undertake delegated duties of the charge nurse or team leader in their absence, including taking charge of the clinical area.
• Escort and provide interventions to patients as directed by senior staff.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse qualification.
• Experience of at least two years post‑registration for the Named Nurse role.
• Commitment to values‑based practice, respecting dignity and involving patients and carers in care decisions.
• Ability to assess, prevent and manage risk within the scope of the role.
