Senior Clinical Pharmacist – General Surgery & Theatres

About the role

Join NHS Fife’s surgical pharmacy service as a Senior Clinical Pharmacist, leading the expansion of pharmacy input across pre‑assessment, general surgery, urology and ENT. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred care and help transform service delivery for patients throughout Fife.

Key responsibilities

• Develop specialist expertise in pre‑assessment and ward environments, supporting safe prescribing and medication optimisation.
• Expand pharmacist‑led outpatient clinics and enhance inpatient ward services in line with local and national priorities.
• Lead the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and evidence‑based prescribing pathways.
• Collaborate closely with consultants, specialist nurses, pharmacists and other MDT members to optimise therapy.
• Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement, education and medicines optimisation initiatives.
• Support the wider surgical pharmacy team, including gastroenterology and orthopaedics, in service development and transformation programmes.

Required profile

• Registered pharmacist with experience in clinical pharmacy, preferably within surgical settings.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and provide leadership within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to patient‑centred care and continuous service improvement.
• Willingness to obtain Independent Prescribing qualification if not already held, with full training support provided.
