Senior Pharmacy Technician – Dispensary Services

About the role

The Senior Pharmacy Technician will lead the dispensary services for NHS Lanarkshire, ensuring safe, efficient and patient‑centred supply of medicines across multiple hospitals. Working closely with senior pharmacists, you will coordinate daily operations, supervise staff and maintain compliance with national and local guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and organise the dispensary workload and staffing to deliver prompt service.
• Supervise dispensing activities, ensuring good dispensing practice and high standards.
• Manage supply of discharge prescriptions, controlled drugs, stock and non‑stock items to wards.
• Maintain accurate documentation, equipment records and standard operating procedures.
• Lead and develop the dispensary team, providing training, support and performance oversight.
• Contribute to service improvement, workforce planning and system development.

Required profile

• National Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent (SVQ Level III).
• Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
• Extensive experience in hospital pharmacy dispensing and leadership.
• Strong understanding of controlled drug regulations and stock management.
