Senior Pharmacy Technician – Medicines Supply & Quality

About the role

The NHS Fife Pharmacy & Medicines Service is seeking an experienced Senior Pharmacy Technician to lead the Purchasing, Storage and Distribution (PSD) team, including vaccine handling. Based at Victoria Hospital with cross‑site duties at Queen Margaret Hospital, you will ensure safe, efficient medicines supply for a population of around 380,000.

Key responsibilities

• Operational management of the PSD function, overseeing purchasing, storage, and distribution of medicines and vaccines.
• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team, ensuring compliance with NHS standards.
• Maintain accurate stock levels, manage inventory systems and coordinate distribution across acute and community sites.
• Utilise IT systems for tracking, reporting and optimisation of supply chains.
• Support cross‑site collaboration between Victoria and Queen Margaret Hospitals.

Required profile

• Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and substantial post‑qualification experience.
• Enthusiastic, self‑motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Excellent communicator with strong relationship‑building skills across multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience in distribution, stock management and pharmacy IT systems.
• Some experience of staff management or supervision.
• Willingness to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and meet UK right‑to‑work requirements.
