Senior Software Engineer

About the role

Checkr is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help build and evolve its data platform that powers safe and fair decisions for millions of users. You will work across the product lifecycle, collaborating with engineers and product partners to design, develop, and launch new platform capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and launch new backend platform features and product offerings.
• Balance rapid delivery with long‑term scalability, ensuring robust architecture.
• Partner with Product to define initiative scope, shape roadmaps, and meet quarterly business goals.
• Maintain system availability through on‑call rotations, support tickets, and proactive reliability improvements.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best‑practice discussions and presentations.

Required profile

• 5+ years of backend software development experience.
• Advanced English proficiency (mandatory).
• Strong understanding of computer‑science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, relational and non‑relational databases, and REST APIs.
• Experience with domain modeling, object design, and system architecture.
• Proven ability to write clear, well‑tested code and make informed technical decisions.
