Senior Software Engineer — Storage Platform

About the role

Join the Storage Platform team of a publicly traded cloud storage company. You will help build and evolve a durable, exabyte‑scale storage layer that powers the company’s backup and object‑storage products.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain a storage platform operating at cloud scale with strict durability requirements.
• Optimize throughput and error rates across diverse hard‑drive and hardware characteristics.
• Troubleshoot ambiguous, symptom‑driven issues where root causes are not obvious.
• Contribute to major architectural upgrades to support growth for the next 5‑10 years, including emerging storage technologies.
• Own components where general‑purpose solutions no longer fit, improving hardware utilization and efficiency.
• Collaborate daily with a distributed, U.S.-based engineering team across time zones.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering fundamentals with experience close to the hardware stack.
• Background in complex systems where performance, reliability, and cost are critical.
• Ability to work through ambiguity and navigate limited signals to find root causes.
• Excellent English communication skills for deep technical discussions.
• Proficiency in Java or comparable languages such as C, C++, C#, or Rust.
• Proven track record of shipping features that have downstream impact.
