Software Engineer (Lua) – Remote

About the role

As a Software Engineer specializing in Lua, you will work on the performance‑critical edge of gateway infrastructure, where reliability and latency are paramount. You will help build and maintain authentication, routing, and session‑management systems that serve high‑traffic environments.

Key responsibilities

• Write and maintain high‑performance Lua code that runs in the hot path of gateway services.
• Ensure reliability and low latency of authentication and routing components under heavy load.
• Debug and resolve latency, failover, and other performance issues in distributed systems.
• Contribute to observability, monitoring, and safe staged‑rollout practices across the infrastructure.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Lua programming.
• Hands‑on experience with Redis, including connection pooling, timeouts, failover handling, and latency debugging.
• Experience with JWT/OIDC, gateway routing, and tenant‑aware request handling.
• Knowledge of p99 performance optimization and a safety‑first mindset for hot‑path code.
• Advanced proficiency in English.
