Specialist Nurse Practitioner – Urology

About the role

The NHS Lanarkshire Urology Service is seeking a Specialist Nurse Practitioner to join its multidisciplinary team at University Monklands. This substantive position involves delivering high‑quality patient care, supporting complex diagnostic and treatment pathways, and acting as a deputy for the Team Lead when required.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain complex urology devices such as flow machines, bladder scanners and specimen handling equipment.
• Request, coordinate and sign‑off diagnostic tests, ensuring accurate documentation and digital dictation.
• Provide patient education, assessment and follow‑up within the urology department.
• Support the Team Lead and contribute to leadership activities using national frameworks.
• Communicate complex clinical information to patients and multidisciplinary teams.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional with a valid NMC or HCPC registration.
• Educated to degree level with a postgraduate qualification (minimum Level 10 Honours) or progressing towards it.
• Demonstrated expertise in urology practice and the ability to lead safety and quality initiatives.

Required skills

• Proficiency with flow machines.
• Proficiency with bladder scanners.
• Proficiency with specimen devices.
• Digital dictation experience.
