Staff Nurse – Barra Nursing Team (Isle of Barra)

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Staff Nurse to join the Barra Nursing Team at St. Brendan’s Hospital on the Isle of Barra. The role involves rotating across hospital and community settings, delivering high‑quality care to the island’s 1,300 residents.

Key responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to in‑patients, emergency department and out‑patient clinic in Castlebay.
• Deliver community nursing services, including CTAC and palliative care, across Barra and Vatersay.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and support the education and supervision of learners.
• Maintain mandatory training and comply with the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) registration.

Required profile

• Registered nurse eligible for Band 5 placement.
• Willingness to work a 36‑hour week on a fixed‑term (1 year) contract.
• Valid UK driving licence.
• Commitment to evidence‑based practice and collaborative teamwork.

Required skills

• Clinical competence in acute, community, trauma, paediatric and palliative care.
