Staff Nurse – Emergency Department

About the role

This permanent full‑time position is based in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Emergency Department and New Victoria Minor Injuries Unit. The role involves a rotational shift pattern covering day, night and weekend hours, delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care in a busy emergency setting.

Key responsibilities

• Provide safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care to patients presenting with emergency and major trauma conditions.
• Contribute to unscheduled care performance targets and departmental key performance indicators.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient pathways.
• Participate in service development, quality improvement initiatives, and audit activities.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to NHS policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse qualification (NMC‑registered).
• Significant experience working in an Emergency Department, preferably at Band 5 level.
• Strong knowledge of emergency department processes and patient pathways.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership, prioritisation, and organisational abilities.
• Commitment to delivering patient‑centred care and ongoing professional development.
