System Administrator – Azure & Windows/Linux

About the role

The client of Insight Global seeks a full-time Systems Administrator to manage global Microsoft Azure-hosted Windows and Linux server environments. The role focuses on day-to-day operations, security, and supporting infrastructure projects in partnership with internal IT and security teams.

Key responsibilities

• Administer Windows Server and Linux systems – build, configure, patch, upgrade, and troubleshoot.
• Manage Azure IaaS resources including virtual machines, storage, networking, backup, disaster recovery, and monitoring.
• Support hybrid infrastructure components such as identity services, DNS, VPN/ExpressRoute, and limited on-prem virtualization.
• Act as escalation point for server and infrastructure incidents, performing root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Identify and remediate security vulnerabilities across Windows, Linux, and related services.
• Maintain monitoring, backup, restore processes and conduct periodic restore testing.
• Automate routine tasks using PowerShell and command-line tools.
• Document tickets, diagrams, runbooks and coordinate with network, security, application, and vendor teams.
• Assist with smaller projects like cloud provisioning, application deployments, upgrades, and server standardisation.

Required profile

• 5+ years Windows Server administration (or 7+ years for senior level) with at least 2–4 years supporting Azure or hybrid environments.
• Hands-on experience with patch management, vulnerability remediation and enterprise monitoring.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across operating systems, networking, identity and cloud infrastructure.
• Ability to work independently in a ticket-driven environment and participate in on-call support.
