Team Leader / Senior Charge Nurse – Older People’s Mental Health

About the role

The Team Leader/Senior Charge Nurse will oversee a dedicated mental health team caring for older adults with complex mental health needs. Working primarily on weekdays with occasional weekends, the role ensures high‑quality, patient‑centred care across the service.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual care programmes for older people with mental health or learning disabilities.
• Delegate clinical tasks to nursing staff according to skill and grade.
• Provide continuous 24/7 clinical and managerial supervision for the nursing team.
• Offer advice and support to colleagues and external agencies in both ward and community settings.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration.
• Degree‑level education, with postgraduate expertise in the relevant specialty.
• Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards for mental health care.
• Full UK/EU/EEA driving licence.
