Transport Driver – Hospital Logistics

About the role

The Transport Department at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy is seeking reliable drivers to support a busy hospital logistics service. Positions are available on a full‑time (36 hours), part‑time (4 hours) or bank (as‑needed) basis, covering a range of duties from patient transport to clinical waste collection.

Key responsibilities

• Transport laboratory specimens, pharmacy supplies, store goods and patient groups across Fife and surrounding areas.
• Collect and dispose of clinical waste in accordance with ADR regulations.
• Operate a variety of vehicles including cars, vans, minibuses and 3.5‑tonne lorries.
• Handle manual loads such as cages, medical notes, equipment, furniture and waste bins safely.
• Follow scheduled routes, timing requirements and service demands, including occasional weekend coverage.

Required profile

• Full, clean UK driving licence.
• Good communication skills and ability to follow route maps and timed schedules.
• Physical capability to lift and move items safely.
• Willingness to work primarily Monday‑Friday with limited weekend service.

Required skills

• ADR (hazardous waste) training – provided.
• Vehicle operation across cars, vans, minibuses and light trucks.
