AS/400 (iSeries) System Administrator – L2

About the role

We are looking for an experienced AS/400 (IBM iSeries) System Administrator at Level 2 to support a 24x7 enterprise environment. The role is the primary escalation point for complex iSeries issues and ensures the stability, availability, and performance of the systems.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve escalated incidents beyond L1 support.
• Monitor, analyze, and optimize system performance; produce daily status reports.
• Manage user profiles, service accounts, security authorizations, SSH keys, and digital certificates.
• Administer backup, recovery, and BRMS processes; validate restores and support disaster‑recovery testing.
• Oversee internal and external storage, tape libraries, and disk reclamation activities.
• Create, modify, and schedule jobs using Advanced Job Scheduler; manage job queues and subsystems.
• Configure printer sessions, LAN/remote printers, and output queues; resolve spool issues.
• Maintain high‑availability and disaster‑recovery environments; monitor replication and support failover drills.
• Apply PTFs, HIPER fixes, and cumulative packages; assist with application deployments across i partitions.
• Coordinate with hardware and software vendors for advanced troubleshooting and service improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• 5–10 years of hands‑on experience administering AS/400 (IBM iSeries) environments.
• Proven ability to act as the primary escalation point in a 24 × 7 operation.
• Strong analytical skills for performance tuning, backup validation, and incident resolution.
• Experience working with high‑availability and disaster‑recovery architectures.
