Charge Nurse / Team Lead – Theatres (Band 6)

About the role

This fixed‑term (6‑month) Band 6 position is for a Charge Nurse/Team Leader in the Acute Theatre Suite at Phase 3, Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy. You will support the Senior Charge Nurse, lead the multidisciplinary team and help deliver high‑quality patient‑centred care across a range of surgical specialties.

Key responsibilities

• Provide professional and clinical support to the Senior Charge Nurse.
• Plan, coordinate and implement patient‑centred care within the operating theatre.
• Ensure standards of care and safety are maintained for all surgical procedures.
• Work flexible shift patterns, including weekends, across sites in Fife as required.
• Contribute to induction and ongoing education of theatre staff.
• Promote a collaborative, fast‑paced team environment.

Required profile

• First‑level registration with the NMC or HCPC.
• Degree‑level education or equivalent experience.
• Evidence of continuous professional development.
• Excellent communication, time‑management and organisational skills.
• Ability to work autonomously, motivate others and solve problems.

Required skills

• Theatre nursing experience at senior Band 5 level or above.
• Knowledge of orthopaedic trauma and other surgical specialties.
