Data Science Consultant

About the role

EPAM is looking for a Data Science Consultant to lead and shape AI initiatives for its clients. You will bridge business challenges with cutting‑edge machine learning and AI technologies, driving adoption and delivering high‑impact solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for ML/AI client engagements.
• Plan, design, and deliver responsible AI systems aligned with client objectives.
• Collaborate across organizational verticals to foster AI adoption and envision new products.
• Engage with clients to understand challenges and communicate AI‑driven solutions.
• Lead and mentor multidisciplinary, geographically distributed teams of data scientists and engineers.
• Monitor advances in ML/AI, recommend innovative approaches, and consider regulatory impacts.
• Act as liaison between business, legal, and technology stakeholders.
• Shape solution scope, pricing, and transition projects from sales to delivery.
• Build strong client relationships through effective delivery and communication.
• Support sales and pre‑sales activities, assess data opportunities, and create proposals.

Required profile

• 12+ years of leadership experience in data analytics, machine learning, and AI.
• Proven track record designing and implementing ML/AI solutions.
• Deep knowledge of deep learning, statistics, CNN/RNN, transformer models, LLMs (RAG), privacy‑preserving ML and security fundamentals.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary, distributed teams.
• Comfortable influencing senior stakeholders and securing project funding.
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Familiarity with highly regulated industries or related regulatory functions.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to translate business requirements into practical AI solutions.
