iSeries (AS/400) Infrastructure Administrator – L3

About the role

We are looking for a highly experienced iSeries (AS/400) Infrastructure Administrator at Level 3 to lead the administration, optimization, modernization, and support of enterprise i environments. The role serves as the top technical escalation point, ensuring reliability, availability, and security of critical i platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to L1 Operators and L2 Administrators.
• Develop and enforce operational procedures, standards, and best practices for i administration.
• Analyze system performance, conduct capacity planning, and generate executive reports.
• Design, implement, and maintain i security policies, SSL/Digital certificates, SSH, and secure key generation.
• Manage backup schedules, BRMS issues, and develop recovery strategies aligned with business needs.
• Design and operate High Availability and Disaster Recovery environments, meeting RPO/RTO objectives.
• Administer internal and external storage, perform disk balancing, performance tuning, and IFS management.
• Configure and troubleshoot TCP/IP networking, HMCs, tape libraries, and integrated services.
• Oversee Advanced Job Scheduler, tape library lifecycle, firmware upgrades, and media retention policies.
• Plan and execute OS upgrades, PTF management, and support application deployments across i partitions.

Required profile

• Minimum 11 years of hands‑on experience with iSeries (AS/400) environments.
• Proven ability to act as the highest level technical escalation point.
• Strong leadership, solution design, and vendor coordination skills.
• Experience mentoring junior support teams and driving continuous improvement.
