Locum Consultant in Vascular Surgery

About the role

This 6‑month locum consultant position is based at University Hospital Hairmyres and supports the South West Scotland Vascular Network, serving NHS Lanarkshire, NHS Ayrshire and Arran, and NHS Dumfries & Galloway. The role involves delivering a full range of vascular and endovascular procedures in a high‑volume, expanding unit.

Key responsibilities

• Perform vascular and endovascular surgeries including EVAR, FEVAR, TEVAR, CERAB, and open aortic/carotid operations.
• Provide clinic, theatre, and elective vascular services across Hairmyres, Crosshouse, and Ayr hospitals.
• Collaborate with interventional radiology and vascular laboratory teams.
• Develop an endovascular practice and contribute to education, research, and service improvement.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified Consultant in Vascular Surgery with full GMC registration.
• Experience in both open and endovascular vascular procedures.
• Willingness to work across multiple hospital sites in South West Scotland.
• Commitment to professional development, teaching, and research.
