Registered Nurse / Operating Department Practitioner (General Surgery & ENT)

About the role

This permanent position is for an experienced Registered Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner to join the peri‑operative team at NHS Lanarkshire. You will work in General Surgery and ENT environments, supporting the planning of the new Monklands Hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patient care needs and develop, implement and evaluate care programmes.
• Initiate and manage advanced care requirements within the peri‑operative setting.
• Maintain effective communication with patients, relatives and the multidisciplinary team.
• Monitor and report standards of care against departmental policies, procedures and professional guidelines.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration.
• SVQ III in Operating Department Practice or a Diploma in Operating Department Practice.
• Educated to, working towards, or operating at degree level.
• Post‑graduate expertise in the relevant surgical speciality.
• Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards.

Required skills

• Scrubbing and leading a team in General Surgery and/or ENT.
• Peri‑operative assessment and initiation of advanced care.
• Strong communication with patients and multidisciplinary teams.
• Monitoring and reporting of care standards.
