Senior Care Assistant – Central Sterile Supply

About the role

The Senior Care Assistant supports the operating theatre and central sterile supply services, ensuring patient safety, sterility, and smooth workflow. This position works closely with nursing leaders, anesthetists, and surgical teams to deliver high‑quality care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide basic nursing care aligned with hospital policies, including patient comfort, safety, nutrition, hygiene, and vital sign monitoring.
• Perform daily cleaning and disinfection of operating tables, lamps, walls, floors, and scrub rooms, maintaining strict infection‑control standards.
• Transport patients between wards, induction rooms, operating tables, and recovery areas, assisting anesthetists and surgeons as needed.
• Assist anesthetists with equipment adjustments, maintain sterility of the theatre, and support patient positioning.
• Receive, inspect, clean, dry, label, and distribute sterilized instrument sets; ensure completeness and functionality of each set.
• Manage inventory of pharmacy, surgical, and linen supplies; procure solutions, tapes, sutures, and instruments.
• Document daily charges, answer phone calls, and ensure continuous portable oxygen supply for emergencies.

Required profile

• Experience working in an operating theatre or central sterile supply environment.
• Basic nursing competencies, including patient handling, IV line care, and catheterization.
• Ability to follow strict hygiene and sterilization protocols.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate with surgical and nursing teams.
