Specialist Physiotherapist – Medicine for Older Adults

About the role

We are looking for a motivated physiotherapist to join the Medicine of the Older Adult service at NHS Lanarkshire. You will deliver person‑centred rehabilitation for frail older patients, supporting safe and timely discharge within a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a diverse caseload of patients with frailty, deconditioning, delirium and complex multi‑morbidity.
• Conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments and design goal‑oriented rehabilitation programmes.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and health‑social care partners to ensure effective discharge planning.
• Provide clinical reasoning, risk assessment and decision‑making in a fast‑paced acute environment.
• Delegate tasks and supervise junior staff to optimise service delivery.
• Contribute to quality‑improvement initiatives and pathway development for older adults.

Required profile

• Registered Physiotherapist with a valid HCPC registration.
• Educated to degree level, with postgraduate expertise in a relevant specialty.
• Experience in acute care or rehabilitation settings, preferably with older adult populations.
• Ability to assess capacity, obtain valid consent and work within legal frameworks for patients lacking capacity.
