Staff Software Engineer

About the role

Checkr is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to lead the integration of a newly‑acquired background‑check product into its platform and to build a long‑term identity verification solution. The role is based in Santiago, Chile and works in a hybrid model.

Key responsibilities

• Own product development from ideation through design, implementation, testing and release.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineering peers to design and architect new micro‑service systems.
• Develop, test, deploy, maintain and continuously improve scalable, reliable and secure code.
• Manage project priorities, deadlines and deliverables for individual initiatives.
• Ensure performance, reliability and security of the integrated background‑check and identity verification services.

Required profile

• Advanced proficiency in English (written and spoken).
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
• Experience running Scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand‑up, review, retrospective).
• Willingness to work on‑site in Santiago three days per week.

• Design and implementation of RESTful APIs.
• CI/CD pipelines.
• PostgreSQL and MongoDB data stores.
• Git, GitLab or GitHub with pull‑request/review workflow.
