About the position

Join the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) within the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). As an Administrative Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the Security and Safety Section, ensuring the smooth operational flow of our mission to promote economic and social development in the region.

Main Missions

  • Provide comprehensive administrative and clerical support directly to the Chief of the Security and Safety Section.
  • Manage daily administrative operations, including document preparation, filing, and record-keeping.
  • Coordinate schedules, meetings, and logistical arrangements for the security team.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, correspondence, and official documentation required for regional security coordination.
  • Monitor and maintain office supplies and equipment to ensure uninterrupted security operations.
  • Act as a point of contact for internal and external inquiries related to the section's administrative functions.

Profile sought

  • Proven experience in an administrative or secretarial role, preferably within an international organization or a security-focused environment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, high-stakes setting.
  • High level of discretion and integrity when handling sensitive security-related information.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse international stakeholders.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese is a significant asset given the regional context.

Required Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong office management and logistical coordination capabilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented approach to document control and data management.
