Backend Engineer (Remote)

About the role

Nango is looking for senior‑level Backend Engineers to join its core engineering team. You will own end‑to‑end development of high‑traffic backend systems that power our API integration platform, working remotely with a global team of top engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale backend services, APIs, and databases for an open‑source integration platform.
• Create developer‑focused interfaces such as SDKs, UIs, and runtimes that deliver a great developer experience.
• Collaborate directly with paying customers to solve integration challenges and gather feedback.
• Optimize performance, reliability, and scalability across all backend components.
• Contribute to product roadmap and strategic decisions with high ownership.
• Maintain and grow Nango’s open‑source repositories and community engagement.

Required profile

• 5+ years (senior) or 10+ years (staff) of backend engineering experience, preferably scaling high‑traffic systems.
• Deep experience with developer infrastructure, APIs, databases, and performance‑critical services.
• Passion for building developer tools and delivering outstanding developer experience.
• Comfortable working in a remote‑first environment with strong communication skills.
• Product mindset, pragmatic problem‑solving, and low‑ego teamwork.
• Based in North America, LATAM, or Europe.
