Chief Software Engineer (AdTech)

About the role

We are seeking a Chief Software Engineer specialized in AdTech to design and ship ultra‑low‑latency ad serving systems that operate on the hot path. The role combines hands‑on coding with technical leadership across ad serving, SSAI, RTB, and identity, while mentoring senior engineers and influencing product economics.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and implement hot‑path code as an individual contributor.
• Define technical direction for ad serving, SSAI, RTB and identity through design documents.
• Coach engineers on code quality, production rigor, latency, cost and correctness.
• Own auction‑level economics and quantify revenue impact of latency and AWS spend.
• Represent the company with partners such as GAM, SSPs, DSPs, measurement vendors and IAB Tech Lab.
• Set hiring standards for senior‑level AdTech hires and participate in interview loops.
• Drive production ownership for systems handling hundreds of millions of ad requests per day.
• Make decisions to reject features that threaten latency, correctness, or unit economics.

Required profile

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 5 years in SSP, DSP, ad server, ad exchange or CTV/OTT platforms.
• Proven production ownership of a platform serving at least hundreds of millions of ad requests daily.
• Deep expertise in at least one hot‑path language (Go, Java, C++ or Rust) and comfort with another.
• Strong fluency in JavaScript, Node.js and TypeScript for tooling and control‑plane services.
• Working‑level mastery of OpenRTB, VAST, VPAID, VMAP and SIMID standards.
• Hands‑on experience with SSAI, HLS/DASH manifest manipulation and ad stitching.
• Background in header‑bidding architecture (Prebid.js, Prebid Server) and Google Ad Manager APIs.
• Extensive AWS at‑scale experience (EC2/EKS/ECS/Lambda, DynamoDB, Kinesis, MSK/Kafka, CloudFront).
• Solid knowledge of distributed systems concepts such as queueing theory, back‑pressure, idempotency and multi‑region failover.
• Advanced English proficiency (C1+).
