Data Science Consultant

About the role

EPAM is seeking a Data Science Consultant to lead the design and delivery of advanced machine‑learning and AI solutions for its clients. You will act as a strategic bridge between business, legal and technology teams, ensuring AI initiatives align with overall business goals.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute ML/AI technical strategies for client engagements.
• Design responsible AI systems, metrics and governance frameworks.
• Coordinate AI integration across multiple organizational departments.
• Collaborate with clients to understand challenges and showcase ML/AI value.
• Lead, mentor and manage distributed data‑science and engineering teams.
• Stay current on ML/AI innovations and propose compliant, cutting‑edge approaches.
• Translate solution scopes into pricing, oversee hand‑over from sales to delivery.
• Build strong client relationships and engage senior executives to champion AI adoption.
• Support sales with data opportunity assessments, RFP responses and proposals.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 years of leadership experience in data analytics, machine learning or AI.
• Proven track record of delivering end‑to‑end ML/AI solutions.
• Deep knowledge of deep‑learning, statistics, CNN/RNN, transformer models, LLMs (RAG) and ML privacy/security.
• Experience leading geographically distributed, multidisciplinary AI teams.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
• Hands‑on expertise with Python and major ML frameworks.
• Strong analytical skills to convert business needs into AI applications.
