Java Engineer

About the role

Plan A Technologies is seeking a Java Engineer to design, build and scale the core server‑side logic of our applications. You will create high‑performance microservices, manage real‑time data pipelines and ensure seamless data flow across our infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain reusable backend services and APIs using Java.
• Implement high‑throughput microservices and event‑driven architectures, leveraging gRPC and Kafka.
• Identify system bottlenecks, optimise performance and guarantee high availability and scalability.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineering teammates to deliver production‑ready software.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional Java development experience.
• Proven track record building high‑performance microservices and defining efficient RPC protocols (gRPC).
• Hands‑on experience with message brokers and event‑driven systems such as Kafka.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and organisational abilities.
