About the role
We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer specialized in Advertising Technology to design and build high‑performance ad serving systems on the hot path. This individual contributor role will set technical direction across ad serving, SSAI, RTB and identity, while mentoring senior engineers and representing our technical stance with industry partners.
Key responsibilities
- Architect and write production code for the hot‑path ad serving stack.
- Define and maintain technical direction for ad serving, SSAI, RTB and identity through design documents.
- Mentor engineers on code quality, latency, cost and correctness.
- Own auction‑level economics and quantify revenue impact of latency and infrastructure spend.
- Represent the company’s technical position with partners such as GAM, SSPs, DSPs and IAB Tech Lab.
- Set hiring standards and participate in senior‑level hiring decisions.
- Drive production ownership of systems handling hundreds of millions of ad requests daily.
- Make and defend decisions to reject features that compromise latency, correctness or unit economics.
Required profile
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in an SSP, DSP, ad server, ad exchange or CTV/OTT platform.
- Proven production ownership of a system serving hundreds of millions of ad requests per day.
- Deep proficiency in at least one systems language for the hot path (Go, Java, C++ or Rust) and comfort with another.
- Fluency in JavaScript, Node.js and TypeScript for tooling and control‑plane services.
- Strong knowledge of OpenRTB, VAST, VPAID, VMAP and SIMID specifications.
- Hands‑on experience with Server‑Side Ad Insertion (SSAI) and header‑bidding architectures such as Prebid.js and Prebid Server.
- Expertise with Google Ad Manager APIs and related ad‑operations models.
- Extensive experience with AWS at scale (EC2/EKS, ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB, Kinesis, MSK/Kafka, CloudFront).
- Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts including queueing theory, back‑pressure, idempotency and multi‑region failover.
- FinOps instinct with clear grasp of cost per thousand ad requests.
- Advanced English proficiency (C1+).
